Good morning!

Hope you all had an awesome weekend!  I figured I’d do a little recap of my weekend in pictures for ya…

Friday 

Friday after work, Mike and I headed over to Breakheart Reservation for a 3 mile hilly, power-walk through the woods.  The weather has been perfect – mid-70’s, low-humidity & sunny – for getting outdoors and exercising.

After the walk, Mike prepared one of his amazingly good pizza’s!  It included flat-bread crust, mushrooms, orange peppers, artichokes, tomato sauce and crumbled goat cheese. (We also had grilled eggplant on the side but I forgot to snap a picture).  Home-made pizza is such a better alternative than greasy, calorie-ridden take-out pizza!

Saturday

Saturday started like usual….

with my cat’s face right on top of me.  Seriously, he needs to let me sleep in for once.

Breakfast was a bowl of vanilla greek yogurt, strawberries, Fiber One cereal + a scoop of peanut butter and Dunkin’s coffee w/ almond milk (I usually have iced-coffee but forgot to make it the night before, boo… )

After breakfast we (Mike, the baby bump, and I) headed out for an early 4-mile power-walk around the lake…

and ended our walk at our towns Farmer’s Market.

 I really wish Farmers Markets lasted longer than just the few summer months!  It’s so nice being able to buy fresh foods + drinks…

including this refreshing iced-green tea.  So good!

The goodies that I picked up…  I’ll have to carry more cash with me next time I go.

I ran a bunch of errands during the afternoon, got a mani/pedi, cleaned up the house and then prepared a really, really tasty smoothie to hold me over ’til dinner.

Strawberry, Banana Protein Smoothie:

1 cup coconut water, 1 cup frozen strawberry/banana mix, 1 cup fresh strawberries, 1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder + 1 scoop almond butter.  Blend & enjoy!

Sunday

Started off as a lazy morning but we eventually made our way to Cape Cod and then over to Mayflower Beach.

I was able to soak in the afternoon-sun,

hang with my cute, little nephew,

and spend some time reading Self magazine.  Doesn’t this Blueberry Waldorf salad sound/look delicious?

 Once the tide was low enough, I went out for a 45 minute walk along the shore…

Getting my 10,000 steps a day is so much more enjoyable on the beach than walking around my neighborhood. Love, love, love this beach!

I spent the evening chillin’ at my mom’s house with my brother, SIL & two nephews.   It was a perfect weekend of exercising, getting stuff done and relaxing….   which is just what this 35-week prego lady needed. :)

Castle Island

I’ve been loving bacon, egg & cheese sandwiches throughout this pregnancy.

I wish I took more than 5 pictures @ my Baby Shower yesterday but 5 is better than nothing, right?? :)  In the pic’ above I’m with my friends from home….

 Opening up all the gifts for our ‘lil sweet pea….  Oh, I can’t wait to dress her up in all of her cute, new outfits! :)

Green Smoothie

Here’s my Green Smoothie from this morning…  In the mix: 1 cup coconut water, big handful of spinach, 1 frozen banana, 1 fresh banana {we were all out of other fruits} & a strawberry, banana greek yogurt.

 My Book Club is reading ‘the Husband’s Secret’ this month.  I have about 80 pages to go but so far it’s really good!

I woke up to some chilly mornings last week so it was hot coffee for me.  Lately I’ve been drinking 1/2 Dunkins’ Hazelnut, 1/2 decaf, a little cinnamon {I sprinkle it into the coffee grinds before brewing} + Silk’s unsweetened almond milk.

I’ve been trying to keep up with 10,000 steps a day on my Fitbit which includes A LOT of 3 mile walks around this lake.

The plants are in full bloom in our front yard!

 Granny smith apple + a frozen American Flatbread pizza = awesome lazy dinner!

Lastly, I’m obsessed with this strawberry + blueberry infused water.  It’s waaaay better than lemon water!

Life Lately {According to my iPhone}

Good evening!

It’s been another busy, productive week for me.  Instead of filling you in on every little detail, I’ll instead just sum it up with pictures…

I’d like to say I’ve had a bunch of great runs this week but that would be a lie.  3/4 of my runs sucked and for some reason I just couldn’t get into a groove.  But at least I had gorgeous Fall weather during my run today.

And scenes from my planned 10 miler which soon turned into a 3 mile run last Saturday.  Oh well, it happens.

I also enjoyed a Bridal Shower for me last Sunday!!  There was lots of food, drinks {even a make your own mimosa station!}, friends, family…   and a fiance.  My family did an awesome job and the shower turned out perfect. :)

Now this is a salad.  As a member of the Wellness Committee at work, we planned a Fall Feast on Wednesday and set up a salad bar, soup station, and some ‘healthy’ desserts.  This salad had it all including romaine lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, chickpeas, goat cheese, grilled chicken, craisins, cucumbers, celery, crumbled hard-boiled eggs, and olive oil and vinaigrette dressing.  Oh, and we gave out mini hand sanitizers which is what you see in the upper right corner.

Have I told you guys that I really like yoga? ;)  I signed up for a 2 week unlimited pass for $25 at a local yoga studio so I’ve been going there and also tried out my new DVD last night.  Let me tell you, this Jillian Michaels DVD is no joke.  I was sweating and swearing at my girl Jillian within 10 minutes.  She get’s ya every time.

Last night was a low-key evening involving a scented candle {gotta have a scented candle going at all times}, wine, the Red Sox, and too much time spent on Pinterest.

Between the after work happy hour and post-Bridal Shower Sunday Funday, I feel like I’ve consumed a lot of beer.  I usually start with a fun beer such as a Whale’s Tale Pale Ale pictured above and then move on to light beer {corona light, miller light, etc}

And to even out all that beer, I’ve been drinking these Suja Element drinks like crazy.  Even their ‘Green Charge’ drink is super flavorful and delicious!  It’s probably from all the fruit – apple, pineapple, banana, mango, and kiwi – that makes it taste so much better than other green drinks.

Time to log off and prepare a roasted salmon w/ grapefruit dinner…   I’ll let you know how it turns out.

Since it’s Sunday night and I’m too tired to actually write out a post (hey, I tried but it wasn’t happening) I’m just going to show you some pictures from the weekend…..   lazy blogging at it’s finest. :)

Life Lately {According to my iPhone}

Due to the crazy snow storm over the weekend, I had a lot of time to putter around my apartment and take random picture’s.  Here’s a glimpse of how I spent my day’s during the storm, Nemo:

 Lil’ home-made smoothie.  Delish!

 Lunch date with Mike on Sunday.  I enjoyed a glass (or 2) of Chardonnay and water and Mike ordered an IPA.   

 I was so close to ordering a sandwich with fries but after not breaking a sweat in days, I decided to order something lighter & healthier. The salad was full of mixed greens, granny smith apples, feta cheese, craisins, walnuts, grilled chicken and home-made white balsamic dressing. YUMMM!  I also asked the bartender for the dressing on the side and a “to-go” box to take half the meal home for dinner.   

 Workout for the weekend included walking to and from the bars. 

Total mileage: 3 miles

 Chobani pear flavored greek yogurt w/ strawberries, banana slices, and ground flax seeds. :)

 After watching countless hours of TV and too many documentaries on Hulu (I even watched one about rich kids in NYC; that’s how bored I was), I finally cozied up in bed with Rocky and a book.

 Stopped at Dunkin’s and loved the fact that they finally have banana’s for sale!

My breakfast of choice the last couple of days: hot oatmeal with a scoop of almond butter and fresh blueberries.  I actually read the labels on the oatmeal boxes over the weekend and was surprised at how many ingredients were listed on the so called “healthy” boxes?!  Even GoLean’s oatmeal had a ton of ingredients!  The Nature’s Path Organic on the other hand included only: rolled oats and sea salt.  And that’s all I need in my packet of instant oatmeal. :)

I wish I had some fun and exciting things to blog about this evening but today is a rest day from working out and a rest day from the kitchen (gotta love leftovers) so instead I’ll show you a few random moments from the last week or two that never made it to the blog.

Afternoon green tea break.

My friend Cassie mixing up drinks for her White Russian Party last Friday night. 

I tried this juice smoothie over the weekend and it was oh so good!  It was a perfect “pick-me-up” drink while working a track meet.

Bass River, Cape Cod

Fruit salad with home-made granola and vanilla greek yogurt.  Delicious.

Finally started to read the Runner’s Wold Big Book of Half Marathon Training + drinking a yummy vanilla protein shake.

Mmmm home-made cobb salad.  In the mix: romaine lettuce, chopped tomatoes, cucumbers, canned corn, crumbled blue cheese, grilled chicken, hard boiled egg, and a little bit of fat-free ranch dressing (not pictured).

 I can’t say enough good things about this movie!  If you’re looking for motivation and a great running film you should definitely buy this DVD (or borrow it from me).
